NEW EVENT SERIES: ART NITE AT THE CLUBHOUSE

All are encouraged to join in on some creative time spent together at our clubhouse. Every first and third Wednesday from 7-9pm, a still-life arrangement will be constructed by member & artist Carole Boulware for other creatives to come reference for their own artistic pieces! Late arrivals are welcome, and school-age children are welcome to participate! These sessions are BYOM (Bring Your Own Materials), but some very basic drawing materials will be provided. A donation of $5 is requested but not mandatory to help cover the cost of the event. There will be light music, low-volume socializing is encouraged, and snacks provided. If you prefer to work in silence or listen to your own music, please bring headphones (no it's not rude!). If you prefer not to drive at night, need transportation for any reason, or have questions, please contact Carole B. at 626-224-3550 (text preferred, calling available). If possible, please RSVP in advance!

Q&A:

What is a still life?

A still-life is a type of artistic piece that references a subject that is not human or animal - in other words, still, not animated. It can include everyday household objects, plants, food, fabrics, lighting, etc.

I'm not an artist, why should I come?

We won't get into philosophies in which everyone is an artist in some capacity, but a few reasons why ALL are welcome and encouraged to attend are:

1. Building a community - come spend time with your fellow club members, and meet some new faces!

2. Time off of our screens - we all are spending way too much time looking at screens, whether it's the TV, phone, or computer. Spend some time working with your hands and looking around you with intention!

3. There's snacks - enough said.

What kind of materials can be used?

All mediums and materials are welcome, as long as they can be set up and cleaned up by the end of the session, and that the medium is contained to its own area. Examples of welcome mediums are charcoal, paint, colored pencil, ink, clay, digital, lego, writing - it's hard to find a medium that doesn't work! An example of unwelcome media is spray paint, as it is not contained. As a side note - if you have an unrelated creative project you're working on, feel free to come and bring your project! Join in on the creative energy!

Who can attend?

Members and non-members, people of all ages who are able to participate (there will not be supervision provided for small children), artists and non-artists, and namely, YOU!

Is there a teacher?

Short answer, no. This is a self-guided creative session, not a class. Long answer - experience, community and time is our teacher in this case. We can ask each other for feedback, critique, encouragement, or a space to vent our frustrations.

This time doesn't work for me, will there be other dates/times?

PLEASE reach out to Carole B. if this time and date doesn't work for you, but you're interested in attending! Adding/changing the cadence of the sessions is always an option, and will be evaluated based on interest!

I have an extremely niche/complex/private question about this event, who can I talk to?

Make it

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world.
